A jazz band gives an event an easy, polished sound: standards while guests mingle, swing over dinner and something with a little more drive for the end of the night. You can hire a jazz band in Singapore for a cocktail reception, a corporate gala, an award night, a brand launch, a wedding or a private celebration, from a smooth jazz trio to a full ensemble.
Price: for a wedding, a jazz trio usually costs SGD 1,500 to 3,500 and a four to five piece band SGD 3,000 to 7,000. For a corporate event, a 4 to 6 piece band runs SGD 2,800 to 7,000 for two 45 minute sets. See what a live band costs in Singapore.
Jazz styles you can ask for
- Traditional jazz and swing. The classic sound for a vintage theme or a Great Gatsby party.
- Bebop. Faster and more playful, for a crowd that listens.
- Latin jazz and bossa. Relaxed rhythm for a garden, a poolside or a cocktail hour.
- Contemporary jazz. Smooth and modern, for a launch or a lounge.
- Jazz versions of pop songs. Your favourite chart hit, played as a ballad or a swing tune.
Pick the size
- Jazz duo. Piano and vocals, or saxophone and keyboard. For a small reception. See the acoustic duo page.
- Jazz trio. Piano, double bass and drums, or a saxophone in place of drums. The classic cocktail hour line up. See the 3 piece band page.
- Four or five piece. Add a singer, a guitar or a saxophone for a ballroom dinner.
- Full ensemble. A bigger group with brass for a grand gala.
Where jazz works
Corporate dinners and galas. Jazz sits well under conversation, so it suits the cocktail reception and dinner service at a corporate event or dinner and dance. After the awards, the band can swing harder or hand over to a DJ.
Weddings. A jazz band for the cocktail hour and dinner, with your march in and first dance arranged in a jazz style. For a full dance floor, ask for upbeat swing and funk.
Lounges, hotels and private parties. A trio in the corner of a lounge, a rooftop or a living room, playing to the room.
Plan the space and sound
A jazz trio needs a small corner and a power point; a piano player needs either the venue's piano or space for a keyboard. Bigger groups need a stage and, in a ballroom, a PA with an engineer. Tell us what the venue provides and its sound curfew before you fix the sets.
How to book
Tell us the event, the date, the venue and the mood. You get a shortlist of jazz bands who are free, with photos, videos and profiles, and you choose. Then you agree the set list and timings with the band. Ask on WhatsApp or through the quote form.
