A wedding live band plays the moments people remember: the march in, the first dance and the minute the dance floor opens. You can book a live band for a wedding in Singapore at a hotel ballroom, a garden, a restaurant or a rooftop, from a duo for the solemnisation to a full band with brass for a grand banquet.
Price: a wedding live band in Singapore usually costs SGD 800 to 2,500 for a duo, SGD 1,500 to 3,500 for a trio and SGD 3,000 to 7,000 for a four to five piece band. See the full wedding band price guide.
How the band fits into your wedding day
Most Singapore wedding bands work to the banquet schedule:
- Solemnisation. If it is held separately, earlier in the day, it is usually a short 20 to 30 minute solo or duo booking.
- Cocktail reception. 30 to 45 minutes of easy music as guests arrive.
- The march in and speeches. The band pauses, then plays your entrance song live as you walk in.
- Dinner. A first set during dinner service: jazz standards, acoustic pop or Mandarin classics, soft enough for conversation.
- Dance floor. A livelier second or third set after the cake cutting, when the band plays its high energy list.
The band loads in and runs a sound check one to two hours before guests arrive. Hotel ballrooms with back to back events can restrict that window, so confirm the load in time when you confirm your timeline.
Which band size suits your wedding
- Solo singer or musician. Solemnisation, cocktail hour or a small ceremony.
- Duo. Cocktail hour, a church ceremony or a smaller banquet room. Read about the acoustic duo.
- Trio. A mid size banquet, or a garden or outdoor solemnisation. Read about the 3 piece band.
- Four to five piece band. A full hotel ballroom banquet with a dance segment.
- Full band with strings, brass or extra vocalists. A grand ballroom and a big guest list.
A solo singer or a duo can carry a ceremony and dinner beautifully, but usually cannot fill a dance floor the way a band with a live rhythm section does. Some couples book a duo for the ceremony and dinner and a DJ for the dance segment.
Your songs
Your march in and first dance songs are usually fixed about a month before the day, as part of the package. For cocktails and dinner the band mixes its own repertoire with two or three of your requests. On the dance floor most couples let the band play its usual party list instead of scripting every song. For a mixed crowd, ask for English pop with Mandarin, Cantonese or Malay hits. A Chinese live band plays Mandopop, Cantopop and traditional pieces for the banquet.
What the package includes
A standard wedding package covers two to three sets of about 45 minutes, a sound system and an engineer sized to the room, one or two custom songs and a call about a month out to confirm the set list. Often not included: stage lighting beyond a basic wash, an emcee, overtime past the agreed hours, and travel or parking for venues outside the usual hotel circuit. Agree the overtime rate before the day, in case dinner runs late.
Your venue and your planner
The team coordinates with your wedding planner and the venue, so the band fits the timing of the day. In a hotel ballroom, the venue's AV team works with the band's sound engineer on power and stage placement. In a tent, a garden or a private estate, check early who provides the stage and whether extra sound is needed. Read the guide to hiring a wedding band before you compare quotes.
What to send
Send the date, the venue, the guest count and the moments you want live music for, plus your march in and first dance songs if you have them. Ask on WhatsApp or through the quote form.
